Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I filter for the Windshadow Parka's men's fit block and built-in insulation together?
Yes. Patagonia identifies style 26495 as the Men's Windshadow Parka and lists Thermogreen insulation in the body, hood and sleeves. Those features coexist in one documented jacket arrangement, but the manufacturer supplies no temperature rating or fit guarantee.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the Parka meet a must-have three-layer-shell requirement?
No. The exact product page calls the shell two-layer. Do not confuse it with Patagonia's separately reviewed three-layer models or infer three layers from the H2No name.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I count on underarm vent zips or pocket stow for this style?
Neither feature is established in the checked style 26495 specification. Treat both as unknown unless Patagonia confirms them for the exact color and season; an unlisted feature is not a matcher pass.
Explore this need in the finder →The Men's Windshadow Parka is not a light, uninsulated rain shell: Patagonia documents a two-layer waterproof construction, taffeta lining and Thermogreen insulation in the body, hood and sleeves. The exact US style checked is 26495, with Forge Grey (FGE) selected. Patagonia lists a regular fit and a weight of 1,117 g (39.4 oz); we did not weigh, wear or rain-test it.
Built-in insulation changes the layering decision
Its defining feature is built-in warmth: Patagonia specifies 200-g Thermogreen in the body and 150-g in the hood and sleeves. These are useful design distinctions, not a temperature rating; the page gives no warmth score or weather threshold and does not explain a denominator. Consider your normal activity and extra layering instead of treating the numbers as a comfort promise.
The page does not describe a zip-out liner or convertible shell. For warmth you can remove as conditions change, a shell plus separately chosen layers is more modular. If you prefer insulation in one garment, check that any additional layers still fit under its regular cut.
Two layers and a lined interior, not a three-layer shell
Patagonia identifies an H2No Performance Standard two-layer shell: 4.7-ounce, 150-denier recycled-polyester ripstop, hydrophobic PU lamination and a 2.2-ounce recycled-polyester taffeta lining. Its DWR wording says “without intentionally added PFAS,” not simply PFAS-free. No numeric waterproof-pressure or breathability result is published; the standard and waterproof description are not independent test results.
The lined, insulated arrangement differs from the library's shell-only jackets. Three layers are not inherently better; they describe a different material stack. If three layers are essential, this style does not qualify. The page also does not identify underarm pit zips, so treat venting as unknown—not proof that none exist.
Details for closing the openings
The listed hood cinches with a drawcord, and the front combines a center zipper with a snap-closure storm flap. Adjustable cuffs give another point to check over gloves or layers. These are practical closure details on paper; they do not establish seam-tape construction, a waterproof zipper rating or how the garment performs in wind-driven rain. The page calls the jacket waterproof, but it does not provide the numeric pressure or breathability data needed for a more quantitative comparison.
Although its name says “Parka,” the specification gives no hem length, garment measurement or drop-tail description. If torso, pack-belt or seated coverage matters, inspect the exact size and current product information instead of relying on the name.
Compare the exact Windshadow versions
Patagonia lists the separately named Men's Windshadow Jacket as style 26490, not 26495. Its US page specifies 80-g Thermogreen and a listed weight of 760 g (26.8 oz); the Parka page lists the heavier 200-g body/150-g hood-and-sleeve arrangement and 1,117 g. Both pages identify a two-layer recycled-polyester shell and use the same qualified PFAS wording. These maker-listed values help distinguish the two product identities, but the insulation labels are not directly comparable warmth tests. The Jacket page also lists an adjustable hem; that detail is not established for the Parka and should not be carried over by family name.
The Men's Insulated Boulder Fork, style 85220, is another option: Patagonia lists a three-layer shell, stretch lining, 40-g Thermogreen and 650 g. It is a lighter but differently built configuration. Its “40-g” label and the Parka's split 200/150-g figures do not create a shared warmth scale. Compare construction, fit block and weight, not a supposed temperature ranking. See the Insulated Boulder Fork assessment.
Fit, pockets and everyday use
The Parka is labelled regular fit; Patagonia currently displays its own review-based size-down recommendation. That is not an independent fitting or guarantee for every body. Compare measurements with the men's chart, allow for shoulder and sleeve movement and test the space needed for layers; the chart is not a set of garment measurements.
Patagonia lists front handwarmer pockets, a left-chest security pocket and an internal chest pocket. The specification does not confirm pocket dimensions, phone compatibility or a self-stowing method. Nor does it give a packed volume. If you want a jacket that disappears into a bag or must carry a particular object, verify that exact use rather than assuming the pocket layout solves it.
Care and what remains unconfirmed
The listed care is machine wash cold, do not bleach, tumble dry low and do not iron. Check the garment's own care label for the exact color and season you receive. Patagonia also identifies a Fair Trade Certified factory, says the garment is made in Vietnam and calls out the lining fabric as bluesign approved; those are sourcing and material statements, not wear or durability findings.
No numeric waterproof or breathability result, temperature range, exact length, confirmed pit-zips or pocket stow is established here. We did not wear, own, measure or test this model. A retailer-hosted exact-style photograph now illustrates the Forge Grey version; it is shown for visual identification, not as evidence of insulation, warmth or weather performance. Before choosing an offer, confirm style 26495, color, size, care label, seller and return terms. Select it for the documented insulated two-layer arrangement only if that matches your needs—not because a name or standard guarantees personal fit or storm performance.
